The Embassy is where I stay when I go to Gen Con back in Indianapolis, and I have to say, as nice as that one is (discounting it's scary-stop-between-floors elevators), the Embassy in San Diego is even better. When I stayed there in 2007, it appeared to be a newer building than the one back in Indy. It has the same, nice open interior space, but the bottom floor has the appearance of a garden, with some pathways winding between plants and going over a small pond.
The rooms are pretty spacious, and since it's a suite, there's a "living room" as well as a bedroom. The couch folds out, so if you're trying to stuff more people in there, including the friend that always comes along unexpectedly at last second, this is the place. I didn't mention this, of course...
The complimentary breakfast is great for most conventioneers, especially those on a budget. While the buffet style food is what you'd expect, there's plenty of it, and, if you have time, you can always head over to the window where a cook will make omelets or pancakes to order. And while I don't drink, my friend's mantra about the place is Free Booze! Be aware, though, that if you're stuffing more people in your room than you've declared, they often double check to make sure that you're a legitimate guest before allowing you into the dining area.
